Rachel Gray is an experienced, RMIT University-trained Osteopath who graduated in 2010.
Rachel cut her teeth working with some of Australia’s most well regarded osteopathic practitioners here at Northcote Osteo, before opening her own practice Sound Osteopathy, where she was the co-director for 9 years. She believes in a tailored, patient-centric approach to healthcare, and in creating an inclusive environment for all.
Rachel enjoys treating a wide range of complex conditions and patients. Her approach and style includes a well-rounded mix of hands-on techniques, in combination with education, exercise programming, breathing retraining and pain management advice. Her treatment of musicians and love of biomechanics of the body led her to take a particular interest in the treatment of dysfunctional breathing patterns, having trained with Dr Rosalba Courtney’s Integrative Breathing Therapy courses in 2018 and 2019.
She applies this knowledge in all her treatments but also offers specific breathing assessments for those wanting help with management of breathing issues related to music (posture, wind instruments, singers), dysfunctional breathing, chronic sinus issues/congestion, and stress related breathing disorders.
As a keen hockey player in her spare time, Rachel is constantly learning about new injuries by trying them out on herself. She loves treating hockey players, runners, roller derby players, footballers and athletes of all kinds. She has run workshops on strength and conditioning for Victorian Roller Derby League and is keen to work with community sport into the future.
She has undertaken training in trans and gender diverse healthcare and sex-worker affirmative practice training, and is always on the look for more ways to support the community.
When not working, you'll probably find Rachel on a hockey field somewhere, or hanging out with her dog Kirby.
